Fresh healthy nutritious meals are prepared and provided daily at Flower and our menu can be
viewed by clicking on the link. Morning / afternoon tea usually consists of a light snack that
includes fresh fruit and Yogurt while lunch is always a hot home cooked meal. Please advise us of
any special dietary requirements that your child might need.
Health, hygiene and nutrition are also areas covered in our daily routine. Our hand washing is
routinized, as well as our disinfecting the changing table and changing gloves between each diaper
change. We talk to the children about this and we routinely use the Jack & Fox game to teach
children hand washing in a fun way.
They are often present while we are disinfecting the toys, doorknobs, nap mats, and the kitchen
table after each meal and snack. We use these opportunities to talk to the children about germs,
contagion and good health practices. At meals we discuss the foods we are eating, talking about
colour as well as categorizing items into food groups. We talk about the foods children eat at
home, the foods they like and how healthy food helps them to grow and be healthy.
